Mr. Jose Flores is very excited to be a part of the Akins Eagle Band Community in Fall of 2021! He is currently in his 3rd year of teaching. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2020 with international awards in solo, chamber, jazz, drum corps, and original music composition.
His first year of teaching was at Raymond & Tirza Martin High School in Laredo Texas where his brass students were successful in region, solo, and concert performances. He also initiated the first annual Composition Contest where students displayed their music literacy and creativity through original music scoring. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Mr. Flores was able to maintain a 100% student retention rate through creating a safe, accepting, kind, inclusive, and empathetic learning environment.
Mr. Flores is very happy to be back in Austin and looks forward to getting to know every single member of the Akins Eagle Band Community!
