![]() Mr. Daniel Sharp is currently in his 6th year teaching. From 2016 - 2018 he was the Assistant Band Director and Percussion Director at Jourdanton High School. Mr. Sharp’s duties included running the Junior High and High School Percussion Studio, conducting the Symphonic Band, and leading competitive Percussion Ensembles and Indoor Drumline. Before Jourdanton ISD, Mr. Sharp was the Percussion Director at Kerr Middle School, and Assistant Percussion Director at Burleson Centennial High School for 4 years. Mr. Sharp’s percussionists have enjoyed success in many facets of the percussion world. His students from Kerr Middle School won WGI Scholastic Open Class in 2017 with Burleson Centennial High School, and finished in 6th place in WGI Scholastic World Class in 2018. The Jourdanton High School Percussion Section went undefeated in the Fall of 2016 and 2017, and performed in the Lila Cockrell Theater as part of the 2018 TMEA Honor Band. Mr. Sharp graduated from Texas State University in San Marcos with a bachelors degree in Music Education in 2011. He marched with the Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps in 2007 and 2009 in the front ensemble and the tenor line, and taught Revolution Drum and Bugle Corps in 2012. Mr. Sharp also marched Austin Independent Indoor Drumline in 2006 and 2007, and currently teaches at Rhythmic Force Percussion in North Austin. Originally from Scotland, Mr. Sharp moved to Elgin, Texas in 2001 with his sister and parents. His family has since moved back to Scotland, but the high level of music education and community support in Texas has kept Mr. Sharp here for good. He is thrilled to move back to Central Texas and become a part of the Akins Eagle Band family!

![]() Mr. Babatunde Onibudo excited to be joining the Akins Eagle Band Staff in the fall of 2018! Mr. Onibudo is currently in his 12th year of teaching and from 2014 to 2018, he served as the Director of Bands at Jourdanton High School. His responsibilities there included directing the Marching Band, Jourdanton Wind Symphony, Jourdanton Junior High Symphonic Band and Jourdanton High School Jazz Band. Under the direction of Mr. Onibudo, the Jourdanton High School Band programs have been consistent UIL Sweepstakes recipients. The Mighty Indian Band has advanced to Area Marching Contest twice, and advanced to the finals round in Area competition in 2017. In 2016 and 2017 the Jourdanton Marching Band placed 3rd in Division A at the Bands of America San Antonio Super Regional. The Jourdanton Wind Symphony recently won the 2017 3A TMEA Honor Band. They have also been a State Finalist in the Outstanding Performance Series contest hosted by the Association of Texas Small School Bands. In 2017 the band won 1st place in the March category with a recording of “Radiowaves” and earned a spot on the OPS cd. During Mr. Onibudo’s time in Jourdanton, the Jourdanton High School performing ensembles and student performers have received multiple Best in Class, Overall Outstanding Performance, All-State placements, along with awards at various festivals and contests. Mr. Onibudo also served as the head director for Jourdanton Junior High School from 2010 to 2014. During that time, Mr. Onibudo’s bands consistently earned 1st division ratings and had multiple recordings in the OPS State finals competition in 2015 and 2016. The Jourdanton Junior High band advanced to the Texas Music Educators Association’s State Honor Band competition on two separate occasions and placed 3rd in Class 1C in 2015. Mr. Onibudo, a product of Texas high school bands in Garland, was influenced to pursue music education in high school under the direction of Mr. Larry Schnizter. He then attended The University of Texas at Arlington, where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Music Education in 2006. Eventually he went on to receive his Master’s Degree in Music Education at Texas State University in 2013 with the guidance of Dr. Mary Ellen Cavitt. Mr. Onibudo is excited about moving to the Austin area to start this new chapter in his teaching career with his two-year-old son, Isaiah, and his encouraging and lovely wife, Jennifer.
