General Information
The Akins High School Band is pleased to once again be hosting the Region 18 High School Band Auditions. We are dedicating to making this process run as smoothly and efficiently as possible and look forward to making you feel welcome on our campus!
Arrival Time
The end of the Akins HS school day is 4:30pm. While our parking lots are not usually terribly busy, there is normal traffic until about 4:45pm. There will be no place students/parents to be on campus until 4:30pm.
Audition Check In
Students should check in at their audition room. You can find room numbers here for 5A and here for 6A.
Thursday night check in time is 5:30pm and Saturday check in time is 10:15am.
Parking
Parking is available in lots on the west side of the building. Should those lots fill up, parking may be available on the curb of South 1st St.
Entering the Building
Judges, directors, and percussionists ONLY should enter the Fine Arts building prior to the start of auditions. Students should go around the Fine Arts building and into the courtyard via the gates on the north and south ends of the Fine Arts building. The cafeteria and auditions rooms can only be accessed via the courtyard.
***It is critical that non-percussion students/parents not enter the Fine Arts building. It will quickly become congested and chaotic if full.***
Percussion Unloading / Setup
Akins Band students and staff will be available in the Fine Arts building to help directors and percussionists stage equipment as needed. Upon arrival you will be directed to the correct doors and rooms for percussion equipment setup.
Warm Up / Student Holding
All students should warm up and wait for results in the Cafeteria. Students must be inside the cafeteria to warm up. No playing will be permitted outside in the courtyard or in hallways.
Student Concessions
Concessions will be available in the cafeteria for students.
Have Questions? Need Directions?
Akins Band students who are not auditioning will be visible in Akins Band polos to answer any questions or provide directions.
Results
Results for student/parent viewing will be available in the cafeteria.
