Joelle Varner is from Lansdale, PA and graduated from North Penn High School in 2009. She attended the University of Delaware and graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education in 2013 with a concentration in tuba and an applied music minor in voice. At Texas State, Joelle is in her second year as a graduate student pursuing a Master of Music in Music Education. Before coming to TXST, Joelle taught elementary instrumental music in Bel Air, MD and middle school band, chorus, and general music in Long Hill, NJ.
Joelle marched tuba/sousaphone in high school and college, tuba and conductor for the Blue Stars Drum & Bugle Corps (2012-2013), and cymbals at United Percussion (2014). Since then, she has served as a brass, visual, and cymbal tech for high schools in PA, MD, NJ, and now TX. She has also served as a brass and visual tech for the Windsor Regiment and Raiders drum and bugle corps. In addition to her graduate work, Joelle currently teaches privately and dabbles in drill writing.
