 Dear Akins Band Family,
This will be my final semester with the Akins Band Program with my final day being the last day of the school year. I have been offered an incredible opportunity to pursue a Master in Music degree in Wind Ensemble Conducting at Louisiana State University on a full ride. Working at Akins High School has been an incredible experience, one that I will always hold close to my heart. Students, you have taught me so much in just two short years. It has been an absolute pleasure working with the Akins Eagle Band the last two years, however I will not be returning next year. After some long conversations with my family and Mr. Fincher, we have decided to move to San Antonio. Students, you have given me the chance to learn more these last two years about how to be a better teacher, and how to be a better person. Thank you for taking chances with me, and letting us learning together every day. Coming to work didn’t feel like a job when I knew I had class with you, and we could enjoy making music together. Thank you Mr. Fincher for your guidance, support, mentorship, and trusting me to join such an amazing program. You helped push me, and stretch my musical and teaching abilities, and I take the tools you’ve shared with me to all my future endeavors. Please know this was not an easy choice, and I will miss all of you dearly.
