We Want You!

We are currently recruiting members for the Booster Board for the next school year, as well as general booster membership.
MISSION
(a) Supporting the Bands/Color Guard of Akins High School; (b) promoting and stimulating musical education in the community; and (c) stimulating a spirit of fellowship and cooperation among the membership of the organization.
 
WHAT
What do the boosters do?

• Support the band financially
  • The boosters pay the Color Guard Director’s salary, all the techs during marching season, marching show designers, clinicians, and we offer private lesson scholarships. The projected expenses for this school year were $114,000.
  • The boosters hold MANY fundraisers throughout the year to cover these expenses! This includes various spirit nights each month, where restaurants give us a portion of their sales.
• Organize all the volunteer needs
  • We provide parent volunteers for all events.

 
WHY
Why would I want to be on the board?

• To be able to influence the direction of the organization and how it lives out its mission.
• Stepping up to a leadership role in a volunteer capacity can be very fulfilling.
• The experience is rewarding.
• You will stretch muscles you might not know you have.
• You’ll build a closer relationship with the other parents and the directors.
• Do it because the organization needs you. The directors need you. The kids need you.

 
HOW
How can I help?
Attend monthly Parent Meetings. They are usually quick – 30 minutes or less! You do NOT have to be a booster member to attend. Find out what’s going on with the band, and what are upcoming events.
You don’t have to be a booster member to help! We could still use your help volunteering or making donations, even if you choose not to commit to being a booster member. All our volunteer requests are made through SignUp Genius.
The biggest help: sharing our fundraisers with your family, friends, co-workers, etc. We don’t want to put the burden just on our band students and parents. Please pass along by email or social media!
